Garden Rubbish Removal Without a Skip

No Permit · No Waiting · We Do the Loading

A skip is not the only way to clear a garden in Bridgend — and for most garden jobs it is not the easiest. Here is how the options compare, and when a van collection makes more sense.

Your Options Compared

Most Bridgend households have four ways to get rid of garden rubbish.

Option Good for Watch out for
Council garden sacks Regular cuttings, leaves and grass Fortnightly, March to November only; no soil, rubble or logs
Taking it to the tip A car boot or two of green waste Brynmenyn takes no vans or trailers; Pyle and Maesteg need a permit for vans
Hiring a skip Large amounts of heavy soil or rubble Council permission if it goes on the road; you load it; fills with air
Van collection Mixed garden rubbish, one-off clear-outs Priced by load and access — send a photo for a fixed quote

Why a Van Usually Wins

Garden waste is bulky but light. Branches, hedge cuttings and brambles fill a skip with air long before they reach its weight limit, so you pay for space you cannot use. With a van, we keep loading until the job is done.

There is no permit to apply for, no skip sitting on the drive for a week, and nothing for you to lift. We also sort as we go, so green waste goes for composting and timber and metal for recycling.

Taking It to the Tip Yourself

Bridgend has three community recycling centres — Brynmenyn, Pyle and Maesteg. Brynmenyn does not accept vans or trailers at all, and Pyle and Maesteg only take vans and pick-ups registered in advance for a free tipping permit. Trade waste is not accepted.

Construction waste such as soil, rubble and hardcore is limited to four bags of up to 17kg per visit, with no repeat visit within 30 days. If you have more than that, a collection is the practical route.

Skip the Skip

Send a photo of the pile and we will give you a fixed price to take it away.

Garden Rubbish Without a Skip — Questions

Is a van clearance cheaper than a skip?

For most garden jobs, yes, once you add the skip permit if it goes on the road and the time spent loading it yourself. For heavy waste such as soil and rubble in large quantities, a skip can work out cheaper — we will tell you honestly.

Can I take garden waste to the tip myself?

Yes, in a car. Brynmenyn does not accept vans or trailers, and Pyle and Maesteg need a free permit booked at least 48 hours ahead for vans, pick-ups and larger trailers.

Can you take soil and rubble?

Yes, in sensible amounts, priced by weight. The recycling centres limit construction waste to four bags per visit, so larger amounts need a collection.

Do you recycle the green waste?

Yes. Green waste goes for composting, and timber and metal are separated for recycling.
