Overgrown Gardens, Cleared
Overgrown gardens come up all the time: a rented house between tenants, a property being sold after a bereavement, or simply a garden that got away while life was busy. The growth itself is only half the job. Underneath there is usually rubbish, old furniture, broken fencing and the remains of a shed.
We cut back brambles, ivy, overgrown shrubs and hedges, clear the rubbish we find, and take everything away in the same visit. You are left with a clear space ready for a gardener, a landscaper or a new tenant.

How Overgrown Is It?
A few months
Long grass, weeds and shrubs that need cutting back. Usually a few hours' work.
A year or two
Brambles, self-seeded saplings and ivy climbing the fences. Often hides rubbish.
Several years
Dense growth you cannot walk through. Expect hidden sheds, furniture and fencing.
Why Not Hire a Skip?
Green waste is bulky but light, so a skip fills with air long before it is heavy. A skip on the road also needs council permission. With a van we can keep loading until the garden is clear, and the green waste goes for composting rather than landfill. See garden rubbish removal without a skip for a fuller comparison.
The Council's Garden Waste Collection
Bridgend council collects garden waste fortnightly from March to November for households that pay the yearly subscription, in sacks. It takes plants, grass, leaves and hedge clippings, but not soil, rubble, logs or invasive species. For a garden that has been left for years, the sacks will not go far.

Frequently Asked Overgrown Garden Questions
How long does an overgrown garden take to clear?
A small terrace garden that has had one summer off can be done in a few hours. A large garden left for several years can take a day or more, depending on access and how much is hidden under the growth.
Will you cut down trees?
We cut back shrubs, brambles, ivy and small saplings. Large trees need a tree surgeon — and some trees in Bridgend are protected, so check before anything substantial comes down.
Do you dig out roots?
We clear growth to ground level and can pull out shallow roots and brambles. Stumps and deep roots are quoted separately.
What about Japanese knotweed?
We do not remove knotweed. It is an invasive species with strict disposal rules — the council's garden waste collection will not take it either — and it needs a specialist.
